 Located in south western China, Sichuan is known as the "Land of Abundance" and is split intotwodistinct geographical regions. The west is known for its mountain ranges, steep terrain, deep gorges and highlands. This area also is the home of China's most famous of celebrities,the Giant Panda. 85% of all wild pandas live in the mountainous regions of Sichuan, making them highly valued and protected by not only China but the World Wildlife Fun (WWF) and many other international organizations. Eastern Sichuan is in stark contrast with its western counterpart; it is known for its lowlands, diverse cities, ancient villages, cultural relics, teas and liquors. |
